Weddings on Weddings

This week, last week, and the week before I dj’d a Wedding.

The first was in Kansas City for my boy Doug Walker. This was a classic American wedding with a quick ceremony and a few speeches. I played the standard American wedding RnB songs: Step in the Name of Love, Bruno Mars, the Cha Cha Slide, etc. Once, the adults got their fair share of dancing I started to switch up the vibes to more modern hip hop music. The party took a turn for the best and it got super super lit. Plus, I knew so many people at the wedding and all the groomsmen are my homies. That night got wild and I will just end this paragraph with ‘Say Less’.

Then last week, I dj’d a mixed fusion wedding in Bellevue, WA. It was a wonderfully coordinated event at two beautiful venues. I worked with KP Style Events on the Reception and things went as smooth as they could have gone. There were a few hiccups on the AV equipment but those were quickly resolved. The first night was a lot more Punjabi music and more dancing. I enjoyed doing that event more so than the actual reception. Indian weddings can be exhausting and it was apparent at this wedding. By the second night everyone was knocked. I opened the dance floor around 10 pm and only played for an hour or so. The few that had energy were on the dance floor but the party ended early. The bridal couple was more than thrilled with my performance. You can read their testimonial here.

Then this week, (currently sitting in the DJ booth writing this post). A random guy reached out to me from my website and I asked him how came across my site. “i searched on google and your name popped up first and i checked out your website and it was legit.” That is exactly what I wanted to hear and what I envisioned when I re-created the site.

I feel like at this point I have enough experience as an Indian DJ that I can do it all. Whether it is Bollywood, Bhangra, fusion, South Indian, Garba, etc. It is really just about understanding the core structure of these different music styles and once you get to that point it becomes very seamless and easy to mix.

And lastly, one thing I wish I would have done at one of these events was to get a video or at least record my set. I did neither so I made a new mix to make up for it. A lot of new prospective customers have been asking for a Punjabi mix so here it is.
